In Minecraft, there is damage. What is it? It represents injury from attacks or natural causes. Damage from attacks or natural causes will be able to subtract from current health of the player of mob. If we talk about damage, you may want to know about the fall damage chart. Here, we will inform you about it.

Most mobs in Minecraft get damage when they fall from excessive heights. Armor itself cannot reduce fall damage. However, the enchantments Feather Falling and Protection and the status effect Slow Falling can do. In the list below, you are able to see the chart which shows fall damage immunity for mobs.

You also wonder about how fall damage is calculated. It is calculated based on distance fallen rather than on velocity when hitting the ground. Then, the distance is accumulated based on a change in position each tick. It is important for you to know that rising does not reduce the accumulator. So, an entity bouncing in mid-air on the end of a lead will accumulate fatal amounts of fall distance even though it is never more than a few blocks above the ground.

For each block of fall distance after the third, fall damage is 1♥. So, if they fall 4 blocks, it will cause 1♥ damage, 2♥ damage for 5 blocks, and so forth. Let’s assume that they have full health (but no Feather Falling or relevant status effects), a 23 block fall should be fatal (23 – 3 = 20♥ × 10 of damage), but because the way fall distance is calculated, a 23.5 block fall is needed instead.

If they fall from smaller damaging heights (4-7 blocks), it will play a thud sound. If they fall from  larger heights (8+), there will be a click/cracking sound.

Talking about fall damage, there are some facts about it. If you sneak, it will prevent you from falling off a drop of one block or bigger. If you enter or are in water when you are not in a boat, it will reset fall distance. Usually, it includes falling into the water of any depth. If you are in lava, it will reduce fall distance by half each tick. If you are in the area of effect of cobwebs, it will reset fall distance. It is also important for you to know that boats do not accumulate fall distance while in water deeper than 1 block.
