How to Reduce Lag on Minecraft PC

Are you enjoying Minecraft? But then, you may find that Minecraft that you are playing on PC being laggy. So, why it can happen? Also, is there any ways that we can do to reduce lag on Minecraft PC? Let’s discuss about it here.

In Minecraft, we know that there are a single player and a multiplayer element. If you are finding lag in Minecraft in the single player mode, it can happen because of unavailability of adequate resources. It means that your system is not powerful enough to hand the load of the game. If you find the lag when you are playing in multiplayer mode, it can happen because of various reasons.

The most regular reason of experiencing lag in multiplayer mode is because of high latency. It means that your internet connection is not reliable or gaming optimized causing a bad game connection. Being laggy in Minecraft multiplayer mode can also happen because of the unavailability of system resources and processing power on the server side and/ or the client side of the game, and other hardware and software related issues.

So, how to be able to reduce lag in Minecraft? As explained above that one of the reason of why you experience lag in Minecraft is due to inadequate system requirements. So, you need to know that system requirement of Minecraft so that you will know what kind of PC that you can use for playingf Minecraft. So, the recommended requirements to play Minecraft are:

  • The CPU is Intel Core i5-4690 3.5GHz/ AMD A10-7800 APU 3.5 GHz or equivalent.
  • The RAM must be at least 4GB.
  • The GPU of your PC must be at least GeForce 700 Series or AMD Radeon Rx 200 Series (and it excludes integrated chipsets) with OpenGL 4.5.
  • The HDD is 4GB (SSD is recommended)

After seeing the requirements above, you have to make sure that you PC meets the requirements above. If not, you have to upgrade your PC.

If your PC has met the requirements above but your PC still experience the lag, you are able to reduce your graphics quality and/ or resolution since there are a couple of useful graphical options which you are able to tweak and town down to reduce lag on Minecraft. You are able to set the overall graphics level to Fast to see if you notice any sort of improvement in the lag.

Besides, you are also able to set rendering to normal or lower, smooth lighting off and usually lower all of the remaining options until you have good performance and do not find any Minecraft lag. Giving Java priority over the resources of your PC is also one of the ways to reduce lag in Minecraft. As you know that Minecraft is written purely in Java and it will depend on the Java Runtime environment which is installed on your PC.  You have to press Ctrl + Alt + Del on your Windows PC and choose start Task Manager. On the Window that opens up, you must access the processes tab and find a process named ‘javaw.exe”. There, you have to right click the process and choose Priority – High.
