Dungeons in Minecraft are small underground rooms made of cobblestone and mossy cobblestone which appear in the Overworld. Usually, a dungeon contains a hostile Mob spawner and also two chests. Anyone who explores a cavern must be wary when they encounter a dungeon. It is because dungeons are almost always connected to large cavern and they are dangerous for players who are unprepared. In peaceful mode, dungeons do exist, but the Monster Spawner will not function. Dungeon will generate with either Skeleton, a Zombie or Spider spawner.

So, how to find a dungeon in Minecraft? As mentioned earlier that you are able to use Chunk Base Dungeon Finder. You are able to find the dungeon finder on the Chunk Base site that you are able to access at chunkbase.com. When you are on that site, you will be able to see that there are some menus including Home, Apps, Mods and Tuts. To use Dungeon finder, click on the Apps menu and then you will be brought to the Apps page.

On the Apps page, there are a number of finders that you can use such as Biome Finder, Slime Chunk Finder, Village Finder, Dungeon Finder, Stronghold Finder, Mansion Finder and many more. To use Dungeon Finder, just click on the Dungeon in the Apps page. Then, you will be brought to the Dungeon Finder page.

When you are in the Dungeon page, you will be able to see that there is a seed and version box. So, you need to know the seed of your world to use this finder. If you are playing Survival Singleplayer, the app can fetch the seed from your savegame. Or, you are able to use the /seed command ingame. If you are playing in Survival Multiplayer, you are able to use the similar command if you have sufficient rights.

For a quick start in using Dungeon Finder, as we explain earlier that you have to enter your world seed in the text box at the top and then click on Find Dungeons!. After that, you are able to use the map below to find chunks that contain dungeons:

  • orange color: multiple spawner in chunk
  • green color: zombie spawner
  • grey color: skeleton spawner
  • red color: spider spawner

If you want to get the exact coordinates, you are able to hover over your mouse over a chunk or doble click. If you use a touchscreen device and then you want to get the exact coordinates, you can do it by tapping or long pressing on a chunk. Then, the coordinates will be shown below the map.

How about the accuracy of this finder? It is not 100% accurate. However, at least it can be useful for you and not be frustrating to use. If then you find multiple locations to be wrong, you are able to try again in a distant location.
